Пандемія ковід-19, яка зненацька заскочила весь світ, звичайно, торкнулася і всіх причетних до УНІГУ. І це стосується не лише загрози для здоров’я людей, але й усієї наукової та адміністративної діяльності нашого інституту. Співробітники й викладачі перейшли на режим дистанційної роботи й залишаються на зв’язку зі своїми колегами завдяки постійним відео-конференціям через програму Zoom. Стипендіатам та гостям УНІГУ також довелося «на ходу» адаптуватися до карантину. Ось лише кілька історій, пов’язаних з їхнім персональним досвідом останніх двох місяців.

Meet the HUSI Class of 2020

The 2020 Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute is off to a great start! Like many things this year, the summer program is an unusual one, moving online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We asked the class to share some information about themselves, their interests, and what they think of taking their studies online.

Statement on Systemic Racism and Racist Violence

The Ukrainian Research Institute condemns all forms of racism and racist violence, including recent instances of police brutality that unjustly have taken the lives of Americans.

We echo the words and sentiments of our colleagues at the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies and at Harvard, who affirm the need for scholarly institutions to create safe, inclusive environments and intentionally seek ways to empower vulnerable peoples, amplify marginalized voices, and encourage greater diversity within our fields.

Inspired by protests and calls for greater reflection on systemic inequality, we are focusing on active measures we can take to include and magnify the voices of scholars of color, to examine topics pertaining to racial justice within our field, and to take anti-racist action as individuals and as members of HURI.

TCUP: COVID-19 in Ukraine: Assessing the Government's Response

Ukraine began its first stages of post-quarantine opening over the week of May 25, 2020. As the country continues to ease restrictions, we can begin to assess Volodymyr Zelensky’s government’s response to the pandemic and identify issues in the healthcare system and its governance.
