“Between Russia, Sweden and the Ottoman Empire: Hetmanate in the early 18thCentury”
His research will focus on the diplomatic history of the Russian State, Ottoman Empire, Crimean Khanate, Sweden, and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Stanislavskyi plans to demonstrate Ukraine’s importance in determining the nature of those relations. He will look at how states, especially Russia and the Ottoman Empire, viewed the Hetmanate and what actions were taken toward the Hetmanate to resolve political issues each state encountered in relation to the other states. Key issues of political life in early 18th century Ukraine will be reconsidered.
