Dr. Pavlyk, an Associate Professor at the Economics Department at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine), is spending the spring semester at the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute as a Visiting Carnegie Research Fellow. Her research focuses on social entrepreneurship, socially responsible businesses, and innovation in nonprofits. Dr. Pavlyk’s current project “Economics of Social Creativity” is based on her previous research which identified main peculiarities of hybrid organizations in most post-Soviet economies, as well as obstacles and possibilities which characterize social enterprises in specific countries. During her fellowship stay at HURI, Dr. Pavlyk will be summarizing social enterprise cases in the United States. She is currently working on a book about social entrepreneurship for policy makers, emerging social entrepreneurs, and civil society organizations in the CIS and CEE regions.
